24 August 2004

Thanks for all the interest and support:

Read about: 1) The new S parameters included with all projects 2) The recently updated website (www.michmet.com) and 3) Books/Seminars of interest.

New S parameters

A pioneering group (Stout etal.) has developed a series of texture parameters that are now being brought forward as international standards. These "S" parameters have been implemented by Veeco in the instrumentation used at Michigan Metrology.

A complete glossary on the S parameters may be found at www.michmet.com >> Texture Definitions>> S Parameters. New key parmeters include the summit curvature (Ssc) for various tribology investigations and spatial parameters (e.g. Str) for quantifying the directional isotropy (i.e. the lay) of the surface texture.
