New S parameters
A pioneering group (Stout etal.) has developed a series of
texture parameters that are now being brought forward as
international standards. These "S" parameters have been
implemented by Veeco in the instrumentation used at Michigan
Metrology.
A complete glossary on the S parameters may be found at
www.michmet.com >> Texture Definitions>> S Parameters. New key
parmeters include the summit curvature (Ssc) for various
tribology investigations and spatial parameters (e.g. Str) for
quantifying the directional isotropy (i.e. the lay) of the
surface texture.

Michigan Metrology Website Update
www.michmet.com has been updated for easier navigation and
quick informational searches. A PowerPoint presentation about
Michigan Metrology and a sample project are now available from
the front page.
The glossary of texture parameters has been improved and
updated. The new S parameters are included in the texture
glossary. The glossary may now be downloaded.

A seminar on electrical connections for electronics and
automotive applications will be given by Timron Scientific on
10/25 & 26/2004 in Livonia, MI.
